Unboxing & First Power-On
Connect via USB-C and charge for at least 30 minutes before powering on. The battery indicator will show a solid light when charging.
Hold the power button for 2–3 seconds. Don't tap — hold. The iGameConsole boot screen will appear within 5 seconds.
Select your language and timezone. The system will auto-detect your MicroSD card and index your game library. This takes 30–60 seconds on first boot.
Firmware Check & Update
Go to Settings → About → Firmware Version. Your iGC-curated R36S ships with ArkOS pre-configured. Note your version number.
If your firmware is ArkOS 2.0 or later, you're good — no update needed. Updates can sometimes reset your game library configuration.
Download the latest ArkOS image from the official ArkOS GitHub. Flash to a new MicroSD card using Balena Etcher. Do NOT overwrite your existing card — keep it as backup.
Loading Games — The Right Way
Your R36S supports .zip, .7z, .nes, .snes, .gba, .gbc, .gb, .md, .smd, .psx, .iso, .cue, .bin formats. Most ROM files work out of the box.
Remove the MicroSD card → connect to PC → navigate to the correct system folder (e.g. /ROMS/GBA/ for Game Boy Advance) → copy your files → safely eject → reinsert and refresh game list.
After adding games: Main Menu → Games → press SELECT → "Update Game List". New games appear within 10 seconds.

Hidden Features Most Users Miss
Press L2 + R2 simultaneously during any game to create an instant save state. Load it with L2 + R2 + SELECT. Works in every emulator.
Hold MENU + Volume Up/Down to adjust brightness on the fly. 5 levels available. Lowering brightness extends battery life by up to 40%.
Connect to WiFi → Settings → RetroAchievements → enter your account. Earn achievements in classic games just like modern consoles.
Connect a USB-C to HDMI adapter to play on your TV. The R36S outputs at 1080p. Works with any HDMI display.
Enable "Performance Mode" only for demanding games (PS1). Use "Normal Mode" for GBA/SNES. This doubles battery life for lighter games.
