Works perfectly: Pokémon FireRed, Super Mario World, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Final Fantasy VII, Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Runs with issues: Goldeneye 007 (N64, 20fps), Gran Turismo 2 (PS1, minor slowdown). Does not run: Any PS2 title.
The R36S uses a 3.5" IPS display at 640×480 resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio. This is the correct ratio for GBA, SNES, NES, and PS1 games — no black bars, no stretching. Brightness measures at 400 nits, which is adequate for indoor use. Outdoor visibility is limited in direct sunlight.
Colors are accurate and vibrant. The display is the highlight of the R36S — it makes classic games look exactly as they should. Our test unit had zero dead pixels. The glass is scratch-resistant but not Gorilla Glass — a screen protector is recommended.
The R36S has a 3200mAh battery. In our real-world test (GBA games at 70% brightness), it lasted 4.2 hours. At maximum brightness with N64 games, it lasted 3.5 hours. Charges via USB-C in approximately 2 hours from 0%.
